随着全球老龄化趋势的不断加剧,老年人群体的数量不断增加。老年人常伴随着生活中的一系列健康和安全问题,其中包括跌倒。老年人的摔倒事件可能导致严重的身体损伤,甚至危及生命。因此,开发能够及时检测摔倒事件并提供紧急救助的技术和设备变得至关重要。拐杖作为老年人生活中的常用辅助工具,具有潜在的监测和报警功能。结合现代电子技术和传感器技术,可以将拐杖升级为具备摔倒检测和紧急求救功能的智能设备,以更好地保障老年人的生活安全和健康。

Abstract
As the global trend of population aging continues to intensify, the elderly population is steadily increasing. Aging individuals often experience a range of health and safety issues in their daily lives, including falls. Fall incidents among the elderly can lead to severe physical injuries, and, in extreme cases, life-threatening situations. Therefore, the development of technology and devices capable of promptly detecting falls and providing emergency assistance is of utmost importance.The traditional cane, a commonly used assistive tool for the elderly, possesses the potential for monitoring and alarm functions. By integrating modern electronic and sensor technologies, the cane can be upgraded into a smart device equipped with fall detection and emergency assistance features to better ensure the safety and health of the elderly.
This paper proposes the design of a fall detection and alarm system for the elderly based on a single-chip microcontroller, utilizing the STM32F103C8T6 as the core controller. The system aims to provide the elderly with a safer and more convenient daily life by integrating various sensors and modules to create a multifunctional cane.Firstly, the system employs the MPU6050 sensor to detect whether an elderly individual has experienced a fall. In the event of a fall, the system automatically activates a fan and illuminates an LED, similar to the operation of an airbag for fall protection. If the elderly person is unable to stand on their own and remains fallen for over 10 seconds, the system employs a GSM module to send an SOS text message, notifying relevant individuals to provide assistance.Furthermore, the system incorporates a voice recognition module, allowing control of various functions through voice commands. This provides a convenient means for the elderly to perform tasks such as locating nearby supermarkets or making phone calls.Additionally, the system includes multiple functional buttons, including power on/off, emergency call (audible and visual alarms), and fan control.Lastly, the elderly can view various measurements, such as temperature and humidity, on an OLED display.
This system’s design offers increased safety and convenience for the elderly, making it a potentially vital asset in the field of elderly healthcare. Future directions for development may include enhancing the system’s intelligence and user-friendliness to better meet the needs of the elderly.
